Overview

Valentina has been with Super Channel since 2011, seeing and driving a lot of change in a very dynamic changing industry and landscape. In 2022, Valentina saw an opportunity to simplify the company’s HR and payroll processes, which were split across different platforms and spreadsheets.

By moving to Collage, Super Channel was able to bring payroll, benefits, performance reviews, and employee records into one easy-to-use platform. Payroll that previously took a full day can now be completed in under an hour, while employees can access their own information without needing to go through HR.

The Challenge

Before Collage HR, Super Channel’s HR team relied on a patchwork of systems.

  • Payroll through Ceridian: Built for complexity and with clunky workflows, Ceridian was cumbersome for a small team. Payroll reports were slow, and corrections took too long.

  • HR tracked through spreadsheets and intranet tools: Employee documents, surveys, and benefits details were spread across multiple logins and files. Staff frequently forgot passwords and had to come to HR with basic questions.

  • Onboarding and benefits management were manual: Enrolments and terminations meant back-and-forth emails with advisors and RBC, adding to the workload.

“It wasn’t efficient,” Valentina explained. “Employees had five different logins and still came to me with questions. With Ceridian, I sometimes had to block out a full day just to make sure payroll went through correctly.”

The Solution

In 2022, Super Channel implemented Collage HR to start its transformation to replace its separate tools with a single system.

  • Centralized HRIS: Employee documents, pay stubs, T4s, surveys, performance reviews, and announcements are all in one place. Employees no longer need multiple logins to access their information.

  • Benefits integration: Automatic enrolment and terminations through RBC save time and reduce back-and-forth with advisors.

  • Improved engagement tools: Surveys and performance reviews that were once handled in Microsoft are now managed in Collage. The applicant tracking system posts jobs to Indeed and connects to the company website.
  • Simplified payroll: Collage Payroll replaced Ceridian with a process that fits a 22-person team. Payroll now takes less than an hour instead of a full day.
